School Counselor

Welcome students and families! I am available for individual counseling, group counseling, teacher and parent consultations, and I can help with referrals to agencies if your student presents an issue that is beyond the scope of school-based counseling.

I have been with Wilson County Schools for more than 17 years.  I have worked as a High School English teacher, and both a 7th and 6th grade social studies and language arts teacher.  I worked in the mental health field for several years before entering the education field.  I earned a Bachelors of psychology/theatre with minors in sociology, English and dance in 1991 at Marshall University.  I received a Masters in Counseling and Rehabilitation with a minor in Psychology in 1993 also at Marshall.  I received an MAT in education with an emphasis in grades 5-12.  I am certified in middle grades social studies and language arts, English grades 9-12 and School Counseling K-12.

I have served as an academic advisor and career counselor on the college level and have worked in a variety of mental health roles.   I also have experience working with at-risk youth and as a teen theatre troop leader.   I enjoy incorporating the arts when working with students.

I truly believe in putting students and families first.  Please contact me to assist you in any way.
